[ Since Matthew obviously isn't picking up, Dorian leaves a message. ]
So I was at your office today and everybody wants to know where you are. I don't know how you've charmed them all so throughly but even after Gansey calling and telling them you're sick, you're still the office darling and everybody still wants to know how you're doing—and since they know you know me, that means I was annoyed for about half an hour with "how's Matthew doing."
[ the world's huffiest sigh!!! ] At least give them a call so I'm not annoyed again.
[ Well hopefully they didn't keep annoying Dorian over the next three days because that's how long it takes Matthew to reply! And even then, he doesn't even call back; Dorian just gets this short series of hasty texts. ]
[About an hour after the Majority Report pings on his phone, Noah drops over the back of the sofa, landing next to Matthew with his socked feet in the air. He's silent for a few moments, but eventually looks up at the other boy with something like hesitant curiosity.]
[ Matthew is playing So Farmtastic! on his phone, since Adam sent him a few things he needed to get his farm back on track. He's currently quite distracted by a timed sheep-shearing event and only sort of hears what Noah's saying. ]
[ Matthew has to fumble for the phone, it takes him a little bit. ]
Ronan. [ All the air escapes his lungs with that one word. ]
You're back. How long--? [ He stops, pulls the phone away from his ear for a moment to check for himself. Only a few days, not even a week this time. He was afraid--
It doesn't matter. There's some rustling as he sits up, rubs his face with his free hand. ]
Noah! [ Matthew gives a soft, unintentional 'oof' when Noah jumps on him, and obligingly falls back onto his pillows. He wraps his arms around Noah in return and gently presses his face into the crook of the older boy's neck. ]
Ronan's back.
[ An obvious statement to make at this point, of course, but layered within it is Matthew's joy, and his relief.
He might have never seen Noah again. It's nothing he wants to think about, but it could've happened. ]
[Noah mumbles the suggestion against the front of Matthew's sweater, but it falls as flat as the rest of the list. He's been trying to find some positive side to Ronan's delayed-and-now-cancelled return, to put a Disney spin on what promises to be a bleak winter at Raven Camp. So far, though, nothing has even begun to stick.]
And he won't make fun of us for watching that wedding show.
[Look - no matter what Ronan says, watching a bride connect with the perfect strapless mermaid dress is an emotionally charged experience.]
[ Matthew likes watching that show with Noah, but it's definitely not enough to make him happy that Ronan isn't coming back to the Meadows.
That said, he actually kind of gets where his boyfriend is trying to go with this. ]
We can let Max eat peanut butter on the couch.
[ ... Yeah, still not enough. (And it's not like they didn't do that before anyway.) He moves his hand mindlessly in a small, hopefully comforting circle against Noah's back. The closeness helps a little, even if not much else does. ]
[Ronan should have probably come to Matthew first, but he also assumed Matthew would be sleeping the latest, and therefore opted not to show up too early. It's closer to noon by the time Ronan reaches his room, knocking to announce himself before stepping in.]
[ Matthew is indeed taking a lazy morning; he was so full of life and energy after Ronan brought back the fireflies that he could hardly sleep the night before. When Ronan knocks, Matthew is awake but still lying in bed with blankets tangled around his legs, his arms stretched up towards the ceiling. Three of his little daydream clouds cling to his hands and wrist, but when he looks over and sees his brother that number multiplies immediately. He sits up, gently swatting one of the new clouds away from his face, which is lit up like the sun. ]
[talking to Matthew is nice; there's no nerves or artifice to it. Magnus doesn't have to feel weird about much, ever, because Matthew is so kind and open. he certainly won't mind a random text]
[It's a picture of five dogs, all different types and sizes, happily looking at the camera like it's a tasty treat (because there is a tasty treat behind the camera).]
🌟 HEY 🌟 party @ my place friday night come if ur: 1) a fan of fun & free booze 2) & pools & party games starts at 8, stay til whenever bring friends & hmu if u got questions

[ This is a forwarded mass-text sent to a few other people as well because he's a monster like that for simplicity and efficiency's sake, but he'll still respond if texted back. ]
[Here's an unexpected video of Quatre-- pre-recorded, not a live video feed. The reason for that may be obvious once the background of the video comes into focus: Quatre's waving from the dashboard of a fucking space ship cockpit. There's a murmur of conversation in the background that the camera doesn't pick up. Quatre's in a retro-ish space suit from the neck down, eyes shining brightly and positively gleaming with happiness.]
Hello from space! We're about halfway to Mars right now. [He shifts the camera over to show a very complicated-looking trajectory display on a screen; for some reason it looks like something out of a 1990s rendition of space navigation, but Quatre seems to understand it just fine.] You'll get this message a few minutes after I send it, so I won't see any reply for a little bit. I'd show you the view out the window but this camera won't pick it up. Maybe someone has the right equipment to at least get you a photo... Anyway, hope everything's going well back on Earth!
